The Višnja Gora Swimming Pool first opened its doors in 1937 and was completely renovated in 2014. Perfectly located halfway between Ljubljana and Novo Mesto, it’s a convenient and refreshing stop for travelers exploring central Slovenia.

The pool has long been the pride of Višnja Gora — and in recent years, thanks to high-quality materials, dedicated staff, and creative programs, it has become one of the town’s key attractions. Especially in summer, it transforms into a lively meeting point for locals and visitors of all ages seeking relaxation and active fun.

Surrounded by green hills, Višnja Gora is the perfect starting point for anyone eager for recreation, nature, and local heritage. The nearby Polževa Plateau offers pleasant hiking trails and panoramic views.

The Legend of the Golden Snail

The symbol of Višnja Gora is a golden snail chained to a post.
According to legend, noblemen from the area once found a wounded Venetian noble and nursed him back to health in their castle. In gratitude, his wealthy family brought them generous gifts — among them, a golden snail encrusted with jewels.

During the celebration, the townspeople toasted from the snail’s shell, but the golden creature later disappeared. To preserve its memory, they made another one and chained it — yet that, too, vanished without a trace.

The snail, one of nature’s most persistent and resilient creatures, became the town’s enduring symbol — reflecting the perseverance of its people. Even Slovenia’s great poet France Prešeren wrote about the Višnja Gora snail, while Josip Jurčič’s The Goat Trial of Višnja Gora remains the town’s most famous literary tribute.

The goal was simple: to let visitors discover the history of the swimming pool and the town of Višnja Gora in a fun, engaging, and memorable way.

We designed and tested every puzzle with real players — from kids and families to adult teams using it for team building.

Since the summer of 2018, Escape Treasure Hunt: The Višnja Gora Adventure has been open to everyone — a playful journey that combines local legends, outdoor exploration, and the thrill of an escape game.
